Not REALLY About Trayvon, But....

Whatever happened down there in Florida resulting in Trayvon Martin dying is very tragic. Tragic for Mr Martin and tragic even for Mr Zimmerman, Obviously preventable regardless of which side you're on.  To me it's sad that there are even sides to begin with in this case- and any other case. Obvious and devastating things about how  the lies and embellished facts and pictures from both sides in the case are now coming to light. My opinion is that we may never know what actually happened down there other than this teen dying from a gunshot wound. The circumstances surrounding the shooting and being lied about and Mr. Martin and Mr. Zimmerman are being tried and convicted in the media by well meaning people who will resort to lying and enhancing facts so much that they become the opposite of that they intend them to be, thus discrediting any validity they have.

Why are we as a nation so eager to label each other or put each other in a certain group? Why does either side of an argument go to extremes by lying or distorting half truths to make their point or support their point of view? Be it Trayvon Martin or infighting within the Republican Party and Democratic Party. minority races and Caucasians, US citizens and non US citizens, Churches and non churches, religions and non religions, guns and non-guns, heterosexuals and homosexuals, rich and poor, Team Jacob and Team Edward.

OK, I HAD to insert some absurdity into the absurd. Or at least what I believe is absurdity. It seems that thanks to the instantaneous atmosphere that is the 24/7 internet and smartphone Twitter and facebook thingees- news and it's inaccuracies and accuracies can flow to millions at the tough of a button. Sting sings in "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You"

" I never saw no miracle of science
That didn't go from a blessing to a curse.."

I'm not that pessimistic, however, I can see the point. I personally believe we have to anticipate "the negative' or bad in anything we do and learn to overcome or endure it. What have we become as a nation - as a society to succumb to this knee jerk type of reactions or to lie embellish facts to support our views?

There are a few other bloggers or opinion writers out there who are beginning to write about this -in regards to the Trayvon Martin case. The media for the most part gets a bad wrap as being either too "left" or too "right". Both sides argue their points and have very valid points and evidence to support their claims. There's an inherent problem with info being so readily sent and consumed. I heard an old man at a cafe put it best.,,

"You can't get the crap back into the horse."

A very interesting observation is that when these so called embellished facts or truths come out as such- or worse yet lies and untruths- their either ignored or dismissed as something the "other side" has presented or released to counter their truth or facts. It's an endless circle.

Worse yet, you have people who cling to how "middle" or "neutral" they are on everything from God to Trayvon Martin to politics to religion. I see these people as just as bad as those purveyors or false info or false truth as they seem to play both sides to me. They're too afraid to substantiate their belief in something or anyone, so they run to some intellectual middle ground to avoid unpleasantness or perception they believe as they do- just to hedge their bets I suppose.

So what do we do? What can we do? What should we do, if anything? I suppose it's just one of those things that we personally can do as we can only control things in our little world or our littel world's collectively.

What say you?

Show Me Da Money!!!

While everyone is complaining about the billions; and sometimes trillions of dollars 'big oil' companies are pocketing after expeditures every ninety days, no one is batting an eye at the millions of dollars being generated by our incumbent President and the Republicans during the past 3 months.

Rick Perry = $18 million -- Mit Romney = (est) between $13-$18 million, Ron Paul (my boy) raised (est) $8 million, and my President raised $55 million - ALL DURING THE LAST 90 DAYS!!!! And these numbers are around the same as the PREVIOUS 3 month period. Of course the grand total in the coffers are much, much more than this. Now this is for a job, a job in power and prestige in which you can't really put a price tag on mind you, but a position that earns a $400,000 annual salary, along with a $50,000 annual expense account, a $100,000 non-taxable travel account and $19,000 for entertainment. (Wikipedia)

This is another example of the OBVIOUS irregularities being overlooked and "shell games" continuing politically all around us. Before last year's elections, the Democrats had a super majority AND the Presidency - basically able to do what they wanted when they wanted to- and yet, didn't do a thing. All the while appearing on TV and radio calling the Republican Party the "party of no" when the Republicans were impotent to do anything but filibuster. Same thing with the Republicans when "W" came to power. People just dismiss these things as "it's always been, it always will be - nothing we can do" and the like. They get together on talk radio or TV preaching and agreeing with each other to decry the way things are - yet nothing ever changes.Know-it-all talk show hosts say they don't want to take the pay cut or that they can do more where they're at speaking to thousands or millions. What if a few of our founding fathers thought this way? What if Ben Franklin or James Madison decided "Aw, to heck with creating and signing the constitution, I'm going to serve my country by hekping locally or teaching at a university instead of forging a new republic."

I understand I'm beginning to sound like one of those conspiracy-at-every-corner nut jobs. Truly, I want ot believe that even though we (America),  seemingly at our lowest, are better than this. History doesn't bear me out on this. We're doing the same old things; making the same old mistakes. Am I wrong? In the future when we sit back and tell each other "See, I TOLD ya. I PREDICITED this would happen!", what then? What good is it to always be the one who predicts things to come, yet does nothing to affect the outcome or change?

BTW RIP Steve Jobs - regardless of what he became, he is an example of what can be done forming beginning a business in his parent's garage with little or no money

Barry Soetorro Emails

Just as when Bill Clinton and George Bush were President, I get emails from well intentioned people wanting to make me aware of "the secrets and lies" of President Barrack Obama.

I think there are a lot of well-intentioned people who love the USA and see how things are going, don’t like it. These people often unite and will write, say, or do ANYTHING to fight back or try to get others to see or identify with their misery or pain in an effort to “right the wrong”. In an overwhelmingly majority of these cases, they take truths, half- truths, plausible facts, and even lies and misinformation for whatever reason to suite themselves or their cause.

All this is done, passed around, etc. instead of affecting REAL change or really DOING anything about what is “wrong”. People feel so helpless and will take on these truthful sounding theories, warnings, etc. These people don’t understand that if they use HALFthe effort they use to obsess over something or get together to discuss and perpetuate these types of well-intended misinformation, then perhaps they themselves would be a little happier and their satisfaction or happiness would come from THATthan smearing whoever’s president at the time.

As to the Barry Soetorro emails, well Barry Soetorro definitely is/was/’temporarily aint’ his real name. Most anti Barrack email’s facts twists the truths differently than other Obama hate emails. Some are better written than others, actually. See (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_citizenship_conspiracy_theories). But like all good fairy tales and campfire stories, they are based on truths and facts.

My question is, so what? ‘You can’t get the horse shit back into the horse’. Where do we go from here?

If Barry held a press conference and stated, “Yep, I ain’t ‘merican. Good bye!” and left, where would we be?

It would take YEARS to legally undo everything he has so far in his short presidency signed into legislation or law. Joe Biden would take over and simply re-sign the legislation after it was re-passed (passed again? LOL!) by the same folks who passed it (the House and Senate).

Most importantly, what is the alternative to what we now have? Are the current Republicans vying for the oval office really any different than what we have now?

But never mind the reality of things. Let’s just all keep on complaining about gas, food, healthcare, our government, etc while not really doing anything about it. Waking up when the house is on fire is not a good time to decide to fire-proof the house.

Happy Thursday- ROCKTOBER (sigh) 8th, 2009!!

Happy Thursday! It's actually my FRIDAY for the work week as it's my weekend off. I'm taking Columbus Day off (Monday) as well. Only because a co worker needs next Thursday off and she is working for me Monday.

I'm going to a retina specialist Friday afternoon to discuss a hemorrhage in the back of my left eye. I'm not exactly sure how I got it or if the damage is permanent; but it HAS made reading stuff and working a heck of a lot more of a challenge. I'm also going to my diabetes doctor later that afternoon.

I am REALLY loving my new Blackberry phone. I can now manage my bank accounts and my fantasy football/baseball teams. I am a 7 year old with a new toy. Since my phone is 'wi-fi' enabled, whenever I'm at home or at ANY place with wireless internet, I can log into it and make all the calls I want for free- NOT counting against my monthly minutes restriction. So the extra $24/month the 'Blackberry Plan' will cost me is now enabling me to shave $30 off my bill; by reducing my monthly minute allotment. PLUS it really picks up much better than my 'welfare' 2005 low-end motorola.

It's kinda slow today on the internet....

NASA will start broadcasting the ‘crash into the moon’ event live on NASA TV at 6:30 a.m. EDT (1030 GMT) Friday morning. The first impact is set for 7:31 a.m. EDT (1131 GMT

Michael Jordan is causing controversy playing in a charity golf tournament in San Fransisco. He's smoking cigars on the course!!!

As the first wave of swine flu vaccine crosses the country, more than a third of parents don't want their kids vaccinated, according to an Associated Press poll.

Want more poll news? Here ya go..According to a Marist College poll, The popular slacker term "whatever" easily beat out "you know as the "most annoying in conversation" by 47 percent of Americans surveyed

Another survey found 64 percent of voters disapproving of the way Republicans in Congress are doing their jobs, with 25 percent approving. The performance of Democratic lawmakers was disapproved of by 56 percent, with 33 expressing approval. For the party in general, 46 percent expressed disapproval, 38 percent approval. Voters disapproved of the way Obama was handling health care, 51 percent to 41 percent.

Rush Limbaugh and a financial partner are trying to buy the St Louis Rams for about $89 million.

Football coach Urban Meyer, of the University of Florida Mastergators, is being coy about QB Tim Tebow's start this weekend. He's coming off a concussion injury 2 weeks ago. He calls Tebow's return a 'game time decision'. Yawn....

FALL IS HERE IN SC!! September 29th, 2009

Well, it was in the 40’s this morning, PERFECT fall morning for me personally. I’m so sick of summer. I feel it in the air, the summer’s outta reach (thanks Don!). As I always say, I can easily warm up, I can’t always get or make myself cooler. Not unless I have one of those COOL hats like Muammar Qaddafi wore at the UN last week!!

Time to play catch up with what’s going on with me. Kinda slow here at work today- taking 9-1-1 calls.

My Steelers AND Tarheels lost their respective football games. I apparently have WON my Fantasy Baseball Leagues regular season- WHOO-HOO! I'm 2-1 in my pay-fantasy-football league; second place in the FREE league I ACTUALLY have fun with and care about.

Went to the doctor late last week- he gave me the official diagnosis of having “the crud”. Swabbed and tested me for the flu-s- had neither. Instructed me to go home, take my Z-pack, mucinex, zyrtec, and be sick no more. Still working on the latter but I AM feeling better. Now my wife has it. SORRY!

Got a new cell phone. A fancy schmancy Blackberry 8520 Curve. Wow. It’s still a little awkward to use to me; even after 3 days. I can see how the device can be addicting and a very, VERY useful tool. I stayed up until 4:30am Sunday playing with just some of the features. It’s got Wi-Fi too. It ALSO adds an extra $20 to my monthly bill, LOL!!

We had an issue with my wife’s car over the weekend as well. We were quoted around $300.00 for a tune-up to get it running. For an extra $450.00, they’d change the oil, repair a broken cable on the driver’s side window, and replace two rear light bulbs (that aren’t really burned out). In the end, I couldn’t see the bruned out bulbs after the usual battery of tests (braking, turn signal, on/off, etc). The window is up, just can’t roll it down right now without a $51.00 part. I wound up replacing a frayed spark plug wire that was arching causing the diagnoses of a needed tune up. Grand total -$4.99 + tax.. Thank you, Lord!!

BTW, my dog’s puppy died. I didn’t blog that. It WAS 11 days premature, and DID make it nearly 48 hours. If it had lived, my brother would have named it Moses. Mama dog is doing well.

Heard that the newly slimmed down Rush Limbaugh has been invited to be a judge at next year's Miss America pageant. Man, are they desperate for ratings or what?

A 7-point-9 earthquake has shaken American Samoa causing tsunami warnings for Hawaii.

Disney is offering a free day's admission to 1 million guests who complete a day of volunteer work next year.

TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" will soon be simply "Kate Plus Eight."

DJ AM died accidentally from a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs and cocaine, the medical examiner's office ruled today.

Right wing mobsters and extremists rejoice- Obama's personal job approval and health care popularity/support has dipped below 50%.

Well, other than that, nothing else is going on. What’s up with you?
